Gingerbread Houses

We decided last year that making a gingerbread creation would be part of our holiday celebration. Last year it was a train, and this year we went with your classic gingerbread house. Phil and I do the basic structure and the kids go to town decorating. They like to sample here and there while they work. ;)

We go with a kit, and usually they don't taste that great. However, this year, it didn't taste half bad, and it looked pretty cute, too.

We all ate on it a few days before finally tossing it.

I also had the privilege of getting to visit Avery's kindergarten class to help them build individual houses. Instead of using gingerbread, they used graham crackers attached to empty milk cartons with icing. Very smart idea! The kids had a great time decorating while the parent volunteers worked hard to contain the mess!

Pretty proud of his creation! It even made it home on the bus (contained in a ziploc bag), and he was sweet enough to share with sister.
