While Phil's hunkering down in a dorm room for their big inspection this week, Avery and I have already had quite a bit of excitement ourselves. Avery is finally getting some teeth, and he is not happy about it. The bottom left one is already in, and the bottom right seems like it'll pop out any day now. The first night Phil was gone, Avery was up practically all night. He would cry so hard until I picked him up and carried or rocked him. Each time he'd fall asleep, it'd last only about 30 minutes and he'd be up again. Tylenol, ibuprofen, and orajel didn't seem to do much to help. Needless to say, we had a loooong night...and a very early morning. He was up by 5:15 as usual. Mom was not a happy camper.
The next day we managed to make it to babytime and out to lunch with Erica and Easton (a double date with our little men!) without incident. However, when it came time to run errands that afternoon, Avery had a teething meltdown. He screamed and screamed, meanwhile, I'm stuck in traffic and can't stop, and it took forevvvver to get home. We barely made it back in time to gather the dogs and run to the closet because our whole county was under a tornado warning. This I had never experienced before in Florida. At least at home in Indiana we have basements to take cover in. It was a little less comfy mushed into the master bedroom closet with my teething baby and both 65+ lb dogs. It wasn't as horrible as it could have been, however, because Avery enjoyed me holding him for an hour straight and his up close and personal access to both dogs, who couldn't run away from him. Luckily, we just had some really strong winds but no tornado or wind damage.
Last night was much better...still up at 5, but Avery slept all night, so I can't complain too much. Here's to hoping that the rest of the week only gets better!
