I Love Thrift Stores : )

This beauty of a buffet was a recent find at our local Salvation Army. Our entryway in the house needed a larger piece, and Phil was planning on making us a side table to put there. However, with a 7 month old and a full time job, it didn't look like the table was going to be finished anytime soon. So...I decided just to browse our nearby thrift stores for something that might do the job. If you know us, you know that we almost never buy new furniture. Why spend an arm and a leg when you can find something just as nice for so much less on Craig's list, etc.! Plus, older pieces seem to be made so much better than what they're selling in the stores today anyway.

This was only $70, very well made, and all it needed was a new paint job (it used to be a medium brown tone). Phil has gotten really good at refinishing furniture, esp. in black. It's hard to keep from buying even more "gently used" items just to see how nice he can make them look. ; )

The lamp was also a Salvation Army find (also painted a coppery black)...only $8.99, and the shade was included. Now, I just need to get some fabric to dress up the shade a little bit. The pictures on top aren't necessarily in their permanent frames/places yet, but it's a work in progress.
