We all had a great Easter, especially since Phil got home just in time. Claire's preschool class did an egg hunt at school. It's a good thing that each kid could only get 12 eggs and that there were enough for everyone because she was not in the competitive spirit. She got mulch in her sandal right away and fell into a heap and started crying. I was able to empty her shoes and help her get her eggs. She even calmed down enough for a few pictures.
Her class...Mrs. Smith was trying to get Harper in the picture by bribing her with her baby doll. :)
Claire and Harper being shy...
Sweet friends
She was not wanting to get too close to the bunny to have her picture taken, so mom had to come, too.
Story time with Nana!
Our awesome friends and neighbors, the Kisers, brought us some Great Harvest bunny bread in the sweetest little Easter basket!
The kids hunted for their baskets Easter morning, but it didn't take them long to find them! The shooting rubber flamingos were a big hit. ;)
"tomb locked"
We made resurrection cookies with the kids and locked them in the oven tomb overnight the night before. They turned out pretty well this year, but the kids still don't like to actually eat them. I'm hoping that making these cookies (each step/ingredient tells a part of Jesus' death and resurrection) along with doing our resurrection eggs each night (I highly recommend!) will help the kids remember the true meaning of Easter...not just the bunnies, egg hunts, and candy. We do love those, too, though! ;)
Claire got her nails painted before church. She told me while Phil was gone that only daddy can paint her toes because "he's the better painter." She was very happy to finally have him home to do it!
Phil was still jet lagged, but we were all able to visit The Hydrant Church, where my YMCA friend Anita's husband is the pastor. Everyone was super sweet, and the music and sermon were both great! The kids' favorite part was the egg hunt and magic show after the service.
Lots of eggs = lots of candy!
Real Easter chicks!!
It was too rainy to do our own egg hunt that day, but Nana hid eggs for the kids around the house while Phil snuck in a nap. The next day was much nicer, and the kids then had fun hunting for eggs outside in the yard.
