After Phil came home, he had a full week off of work. Nana was also here for several of those days, so we all had fun getting out and doing things together.
First, we all went hiking at Cliffs of the Neuse State Park, which was a lot of fun. It was a beautiful day to be outside! We did several of the short trails, and the kids did great. They ran ahead to find the trail markers on the tree and would shout out the direction we needed to go in.
Phil and I looked at each other from time to time that afternoon and smiled like "We have arrived!" Our kids are finally old enough to take to do these sort of things and all of us make it out alive have fun. :)
I would have never expected a place as beautiful as this to be so close to Goldsboro (sorry, Goldsboro). True to its name, there were actual cliffs overlooking the Neuse River. There was also a big pond/place to swim and creeks with bridges to cross along with the walking trails to explore. We will be coming back to visit, for sure!
We grilled out, played outside a lot, made smores in the fire pit, and went to the library. There was also lot of book reading with Nana...
The day we took Nana to catch her plane, we were even able to take her to our favorite place in Raleigh, Pullen Park. Phil and Nana took the kids on the carousel (which moved too fast to get a good picture). Then, all of us rode the train, and the kids screamed and cried over who got to sit with Phil...they sure know how to make their mommy feel good. :/ You'd have thought I was a complete stranger trying to kidnap them. The joys of military life.
Mad she got stuck with mom...
They love the boat ride! There's no room for adults, which means no fighting over who sits with Daddy. Whoohoo!
Of course, Claire had to try it out, too.
There was just not enough of Daddy to go around. Thankfully, we had Nana for a whole week to play with, too! Can't wait for her to come back soon!

What great time with Nana there and Pullen Park too!
