Happy Halloween!

To get in the Halloween spirit, Avery and Mommy made a spider web out of spaghetti, glue, and glitter. 

 Avery's favorite part was the glitter.

Phil and I carved pumpkins. Mine was the ghost on the left, and his was the grim reaper. Gotta love the carving kits with the stencils!

We turned on our scary music cd and put out a bowl of candy while we took our little trick-or-treaters to a nearby subdivision. 

Claire was a New York Yankees cheerleader. I had bought this outfit before we even found out that Avery was a boy, so we were glad that someone was finally able to get some use out of it...even if it was a little on the big side.

She spent her evening going door to door in the Baby Bjorn, but she didn't seem to mind.

Avery wore his flight suit one last time before it gets too small. It was this or a lion outfit I'd picked up after Halloween last year, but he decided to be a pilot like daddy. He was very excited to "go to Halloween" to get some more candy. We told him we couldn't go until it got dark outside, and he couldn't wait until it was time to head out!

 He loved going door to door and was most excited about ringing the doorbells. He had his "trick-or-treat" and "thank you"s down pat until we actually got out to the houses, and then he got a little shy. He loved the decorations but wasn't very fond of the kids dressed in masks, calling them "scary" and saying we needed to go away from them. He did a good job of holding Phil's hand and then having him carry him so he wouldn't "get hit by cars"... I think he was just getting really sleepy by the end. We only went down two streets, and he had a full bucket.

 It was a beautiful night to be out walking around, and although we didn't have any trick-or-treaters at our house (sadly!), the neighborhood we went to was very festive. One house was even grilling out hot dogs for everyone that stopped by! Can't wait until next year when Claire can participate a little more in the action!
