It's hard to believe that today is already Avery's 9 month birthday! He's turning more and more into a little boy instead of my little baby...sigh. Lucky him, we got to spend the morning visiting the pediatrician for his 9 month check-up. So here are the latest stats: He is 21.6 lbs, which puts him in the 69th percentile. (Dr. thinks that the last weight of 22 lbs in January was a mistake because he's not getting any smaller!) He is 27.7 inches long and in the 33rd percentile for height. I'm still holding on to the hope that he'll take after the Stephens side of the family as far as height's concerned!
He has 6 teeth that have poked through and several more that look as though they'll make an appearance any day. He is rolling and squirming all over the place but hasn't started officially crawling yet. He is sooo close (rocks and reaches...) and is getting super frustrated about not getting anywhere! The doctor said she can't get over how well he's doing considering all that he's been through. His gross development may be slightly delayed due to all his time in the hospital (laying on his back, etc.), but she's not concerned as of right now.
Avery "talks" constantly and loves to hear himself make noise. Still no "mama," but we're practicing daily! He just moved up to stage 3 baby foods and thankfully has had no issues with swallowing following his dilations. I'm still nervous about starting the table foods, but we'll go VERY slowly with that. His latest feat is that he can now drink water from a sippy cup! I think 1/2 of it ends up on his clothes, but at least he's trying it on his own.
...but enough talk! Here are some pictures from today:
