Hi, friends and family! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Although we missed being with family, we had a great time (and a delicious meal) with friends. We started the day with Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, a tradition growing up and one I plan on continuing with Avery (even though he napped through most of it this year). We then skyped with both sides of the family, which was fantastic. All of Phil's family was even there in front of the computer, and with 6 siblings, that's no small feat. Avery sat through both conversations and entertained everyone throughout. After the parade came the dog show and football while we put up the Christmas tree.
Our tree is not one with all matching ornaments and frilly ribbon...it's more sentimental and um not matching, covered with ornaments that Phil and I received or made when we were younger. I love remembering where each ornament came from and can't wait to add an ornament each year for Avery now, too. His first ornament we bought with him is Winnie the Pooh "Baby's 1st Christmas" from Hallmark. Very cute. : ) Avery is not overly impressed with the tree so far. He glanced at the lights when we put him in front of it, but otherwise he pretty much ignores the tree completely. Oh well...I'm sure next year we'll be wishing he'd ignore the tree.
Thanksgiving dinner was spent at our friends, Cassie and Zach's, house. It was great to just have to cook green bean casserole and dinner rolls and still get to eat a nice meal. Everyone pitched in, and it was delicious. If we had been home by ourselves, it wouldn't have been quite the same (can you say "take out"!?!). There are no pictures from the dinner because we were all too busy eating!

Friday, we drove down to Sanibel Island to meet up with Phil's brother, Tim, who was there visiting with a friend. We'd never been there before and were really impressed with the area. Known for their sea shells mostly, the island is covered with bike trails and has a very nice beach, as well. We had a great time with Tim and the Freiberts, eating at The Bubble Room, visiting the beach, and learning some fun new card games.The Beach! :
