Snow Day!

We got quite a bit of snow here for this part of North Carolina, and the kids were super excited to bust out the winter gear. Last year, we only had some flurries and ice, so this was much more exciting! It started early in the morning on Saturday, so the kids had the whole weekend to play in it.
With no equipment to clear the roads, church was canceled the next day, and the kids had Monday and Tuesday off of school, as well. Phil managed to get to the airport in Raleigh just fine on Sunday for a TDY (boo), so by Wednesday, I was more than ready for them to head back to school after so many days of togetherness. ;)

Looking cute in all our snow gear!

 What is all this stuff??

The kids wanted to make their own "snow cones," which consisted of icy snow they'd collected off the ground and put in cups with a little water and a lemonade packet. eww. We had to be sure to pick out all the leaves and pine straw. I'm telling myself they're just building up their immunity. ugh.

They also had their heart set on building a snowman, so before Phil left for his trip, I sent him outside to help while I watched from the window. Hey, with Raynauds I have a good excuse! ;)

Snowy hugs for daddy!

There was more ice than snow, but they gave it their best shot. The first snowman was named Pica (after Picachu, the Pokemon character). He might have been teeny tiny, but they were super proud of him...their first snowman. They used raisins for the eyes, nose, and buttons.

Pica either started to melt the next day or Bailey discovered the raisins, so they decided to build another snowman.

All in all, it was a very successful snow day(s). The kids had a lot of fun and made a lot of good memories!
