Award Date Night!

Phil and I had a great night out this past week when he was honored as the 916th ARW Active Duty Pilot of the Year for 2016. While he was selected by his squadron, the award was presented by the local order of Daedalians (Kitty Hawk Flight), and they were the gracious hosts for the evening. Awards were also presented for the reserve pilot of the year, boom, and pilot and navigator on the fighter side. Here he is accepting his award from Col. Biethman.

During the cocktail hour before the dinner, we were able to speak to some of the Daedailan members, and they have some stories to tell. The (ahem..) slightly shorter gentlemen in front in the picture below are veteran fighter pilots and flight docs. One invited us to his home to see an antique propeller and another told us of his upcoming 93rd (!) birthday. He's been flying since he was 13. It was really an honor to be there with these men, even more so to see Phil stand with them and be recognized for his service, as well.

The award winners...

Col. Sage gave a great speech.

We really enjoyed sitting with Phil's squadron commander, Col. Morrison, and his wife Kay. We were so glad they were able to be there, too!

We had to have a picture taken, of course, as proof of a date night... and that I sometimes fix my hair. :)
I'm really proud of my handsome hubby!
