We had a very low key New Years Eve and New Years day. We were still recuperating from our trip home, and it was nice to to lay low and take it easy. For New Years Eve, we still celebrated, albeit rather quietly. We found a great 10 minute kids' countdown on youtube with fun songs and recognizable characters. We dug out some left over glow bracelets for everyone from Claire's birthday party. Then we turned off the lights and had our own kind of pajama dance party until the countdown reached 0:00. Happy New Year!! (at 7pm the night before) :) Avery, ever the one to ask a million questions, kept prodding us for answers. Is it really Jan. 1st now? So it's after midnight? We tried to dismiss him and change the subject while quickly ushering them off to bed, glow bracelets and all. Then Phil and I managed to stay up a little bit longer...long enough to see Mariah Carey butcher her performance and Fergie act so drugged up and crazy that she was hardly recognizable. sigh. This is why we usually avoid tv. Just glad the kids weren't watching.
The next day, Avery surprised us by declaring that a new New Year's tradition should be making brownies with m&ms in them. Um. Ok. Figuring that was a pretty easy request, we grabbed the required ingredients on the way home from church. Everyone helped and then enjoyed eating. Guess those New Years detoxing plans will have to wait until later in the week. ;)
I'm pretty sure this is a tradition that we can keep going. We had a wonderful 2016, and we're looking forward to all that God has in store for us in the coming year. Wishing God's blessings to all our friends and family on New Year and all year through!
