Florida State Fair

Last week, Avery and I headed over to the Florida State Fair with my mom and dad. It was pretty hot (even in February!), but we managed to see a lot and have a good time. One of the most memorable parts of the day was when Avery got to feed carrots to this big giraffe (or just "affe," as Avery calls them). With it's super long neck and tongue, he just leaned down and scooped the carrot right out of Avery's hand.

There were also ponies, kangaroos, goats, llamas, and pigs to feed. Avery wasn't too sure about them eating out of his hand after he saw their teeth, so he mostly let Mimi do it.

Then we stopped by the pure bred dog tent, one of our favorite things about the fair. Avery saw all kinds of sweet dogs and got to pet quite a few, too. None were as nice as our Bailey, though!

There weren't many games that Avery could play so when we saw this duck one, we had to stop. For $5 he got to pick 3 ducks out of the "pond," and was guaranteed a prize. He did a great job picking out the ducks from the water, but had a harder time handing them over to the game worker. He thought they were the prize! We ended up with yet another big bouncy ball.

This year, Avery was able to ride the ponies! He had a great time...red cheeks and all. Avery's smiling for Grandpa, and Mom's trying not to step in pony poop. :/

As far as fair food goes, we weren't that bad. We passed up the fried butter, krispy kreme donut burgers, and chocolate dipped bacon and settled on chicken pitas/gyros for the adults and spaghetti for Avery. Avery and I did splurge on a vanilla milkshake. :)

We are definitely going to miss not living right down the road from the state fair when we move to Pensacola!
