Pasta and a Pickle

Avery is becoming more and more independent by the day. Most of the time it's fun and exciting for us to watch, but at meal time it's been mostly just frustrating. He now believes he's too much of a big boy for us to feed him baby food. We can usually get him to eat about half a jar by giving him his own spoon to "use" while we sneak food in with another one. He likes to pick up his own food to eat, like puffs, crunchers, etc., but he doesn't like to pick up anything "slimy" like bananas, pasta, and green beans (though he likes to eat them if we put it in his mouth). With his medical history, there are only so many things we are willing to feed him at this point. Needless to say, our options have become more limited and we're having to get creative. Here are a few videos of Avery at dinnertime.

Avery decided that he could take the fork from Dad and feed himself his ravioli... now off to the store to buy baby safe forks. :)

After a particularly trying day of willing Avery to eat something...anything we would feed him (other than puffs!), we gave in and let him chew on the pickle that he was so interested in (making sure, of course, that he didn't bite off any big pieces!).
