... A Lot Like Christmas!!
Avery was very impressed with the Christmas tree. We put everything up while he was sleeping, hoping that he wouldn't realize that the ornaments didn't come attached to the tree... and so he wouldn't try to take them off. Ahh, so naive. We don't give him enough credit, I suppose. He said "Whoah!"' when he woke up the next morning and saw it all decorated and lit up. He proceeded to walk all the way around the bottom, pointing at and touching (yikes!) one ornament after another.
It wasn't long before he spotted the round "balls" on the tree. So excited!..uh oh.
Shortly after this picture, he tossed the "ball" and quickly realized that it doesn't bounce like his others, but shatters all over the floor. Thankfully, we put the cheaper and/or more durable ornaments near the bottom, and he's gotten a little better about leaving them on the tree .
Avery picked out his own Hallmark ornament (Toy Story) this year, a Stephens' family tradition, and he's very very proud of it. He calls it "Wee" (for Woody) and carries it around everywhere. It's even gone on a few walks in the stroller. I hold my breath the whole time because we couldn't get a cheaper Target version...we had to buy the Hallmark one in the Hallmark store for a whopping $17! It doesn't even light up! Sigh...but we are making memories. :)
Phil did a great job (in his pjs!) of decorating the outside of the house. His hard work earned yet another "Whoah!" from Avery.

The tired parents even celebrated with an overdue date night after all the decorating!
