This past week, we traveled up to Charleston and Hilton Head, South Carolina for a fun family vacation. The weather started off a little rocky, but it soon brightened up and was a nice and cool change from the FL heat. We had a great trip sightseeing and spending time with friends and family.
My parents kept Avery so Phil and I could attend our friend, Scott's, wedding in Charleston. He and Phil were in the same pilot training class in Columbus, MS, and it was great to see him and a few other classmates from our MS days (and meet the beautiful bride, Lindsey)! I also enjoyed my first night (not counting the hospital) away from Avery by sleeping in until 9am the next day. Whoohoo. :)
Pretend that you haven't seen us in these outfits before. ;)
After the wedding, we spent the rest of the week in beautiful Hilton Head, SC with my mom, dad, and sister, Shelley. This was a favorite vacation spot for my family growing up...hard to believe I hadn't been back since high school.
We got a workout riding bikes all over the island. It was especially difficult hauling Avery around in the sand! He enjoyed himself though. :)
Aunt Shell! She's now officially completed her first semester of med school and was ready for a break!
Rocking with Grandpa at Harbor Town.
We later read that climbing on these old trees is prohibited. Ooops. Why put the playground around them then?...Just sayin'.
Avery really wanted to run in these fountains...poor guy. He loves the new wagon that Grammy and Grandpa gave him for Christmas!
Avery liked running around in the sand, playing with his ball, and calling all the seagulls "ducks."
My two men. :)
Phil and my Dad got in two rounds of golf, and Avery and the ladies did some extra exploring on the bikes and some shopping, too! In the evenings, we all played games like Rummikub and Jenga, tested out the hot tub, and watched Christmas movies.
Grammy, fake alligator, and Avery and his "b-ball"
Lastly, we opened a few early Christmas presents, since we won't get home in time for the holidays this year. Avery tore and organized his wrapping paper veeerrrryy slowly. Finally dad had to help him out a little.
Our week together wasn't long enough, but we had a really nice time. We're already talking about what we want to do the next time we get back to Hilton Head!
