Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Sunday! I think Avery enjoyed his first Easter. He had fun getting his Easter basket, though I think he liked the basket more than what was inside. He got his first bible, a book on the real meaning of Easter and a fun counting book, some coloring books, a Veggie Tales movie, and a fluffy bunny stuffed animal.
After a delicious french toast breakfast (Phil's specialty), which Avery tried as well (minus the syrup), we headed off to church at The Crossing. Both the music and the sermon were fantastic, and Avery didn't get kicked out of the nursery for crying this time. Whoohoo!
First family Easter picture!For dinner, we headed over to the Merrills' house for a huge meal and fun with friends. Avery tried ham, green beans, and corn pudding all for the first time. His buddy Easton was also there, and they wore themselves out with all the playtime.
I hope that Avery grows to learn that Easter is much more than bunnies, eggs, and candy (although those are fun, too)...that the reason we celebrate is because Jesus died to save us from our sin, and He rose again and is waiting with open arms for us in Heaven. That's a gift better than anything you could put in an Easter basket!
