The Big Day

So today was Avery's procedure to remove the g-tube and the wire, and everything went really well. We got there at 6am, and the procedure was scheduled for 8am. Of course it didn't get started right on time, per usual, but Avery was a good sport.

Still in our pjs...well, one of us. : )

Killing time playing with our toys.

Photo op with dad...not going to miss these salmon gowns.

Us with our favorite anesthesiologist ever, Dr. Robertson. (We had him for all but one of Avery's dilations!)

We got our favorite pre-op nurse, Lauren, in on a group pic, too! Wish we could have gotten everyone together for a picture, but I guess some people have work to do... ;)

Post- op: Sooo sleepy and hurting pretty bad. Yay for pain medicine.

No g-tube or wire but a big incision instead. It looks pretty bad, but it will heal well like the rest of them...good thing we have lots of scar gel. We have to have the sutures removed in 10 days, which just so happens to be while we're home in Louisville for Christmas. Ugh. At least we were able to get in the surgery, and he gets to be tube free for the holidays. So thankful, even if Avery's not feeling it right now...and we feel pretty bad for him, too.

Hoping he'll feel up to visiting Santa at the squadron's kids' Christmas party tomorrow...we'll see.
So proud of him. What a trooper.
