Preschool Open House

Avery had his preschool open house yesterday at Children of Woodbine, and it went really well. He was very excited about going and even had us in the car ready to leave 15 min early. He did Mother's Day Out at Woodbine over the summer, so he had already met his teacher and was familiar with the classroom, which was a big help. He is in the frog class and has his own chair and folder with his name on it. He will be going Tuesday and Thursday mornings. There are only 4 kids in his class right now, all boys, but Mrs. Amy says that they'll have the full number (8) within a few weeks (hopefully a few girls, too!). He wasn't shy and dug right in and played with the toys, his favorite being a play straightening iron. oh dear. ;) 

Other kids were more reserved than Avery, clinging to their moms, and one mom was even noticeably crying about her boy being old enough for preschool. Another classmate shook the teacher's hand and said "nice to meet you."  Avery ran/crawled around without his shoes on, coughing (normal TEF seal bark/need breathing meds adjusted?) and occasionally burping (reflux is acting up)...so I'm constantly reminding him to say "excuse me" and desperately hoping that the other parents don't think he has the plague. (Maybe send letter home with other kids about his non-sick normal noises?) So...I pretty much feel like a bad mom, b/c Avery and I are both looking forward to the start of the "school year." There were no tears shed by this momma. ;) Maybe for kindergarten.

He finally took his finger out of his nose long enough for me to snap a few pics with Mrs. Amy, his teacher. Sigh. I can tell he really likes her though- he gave her a big hug and already laughs and smiles with her. 

 Claire had a great time playing with all the toys, too, and cried when it was time to go. Avery wanted to help me push her in and out of the school in her stroller and pointed out his "sissy" to anyone looking our direction. He was the proud big brother, and she loved the attention, too.
