For our date night this past Saturday, Phil and I ate a quick dinner at the New Yorker Deli (so good!) and then took part in Pensacola's Ghost and Haunt Tour. Whether or not you buy into the whole ghosts and orbs and paranormal activity idea, it was fun to walk around downtown and learn all about the history of many of the landmark buildings and hear stories of hauntings that have supposedly taken place there.
Below is what everyone looked like walking around taking pictures of old buildings...hoping to catch images of orbs or apparitions. Don't worry, we weren't taking pictures of any occupied houses. ;) Most of these places are owned by the historical society and are open for
tours during the day or have been turned into businesses (Pensacola Little Theater or the Children's Museum, etc.).
These are the only "good" pictures I feel like I took...They were taken at Christ Church, the first church established in Pensacola and is said to be haunted by the first three rectors who served there, dying back to back from yellow fever. This particular window is rumored to be where their images can often be seen, and if you look in the second pane from the bottom on the right you can make out faces in both of the pictures. Coincidence? Maybe...but pretty spooky none the less. : / If you download the pictures and zoom in, they are much more noticeable.
We were also surprised to learn near the end of the tour that a somewhat famous psychic medium had joined the tour last minute. He ended up sharing some really creepy stores about several houses that we passed (not on the tour) that he had been called to investigate. Needless to say, if any of our future visitors are interested, Phil and I could probably piece together our own pretty scary ghost tour downtown. It was a lot of fun and a beautiful night to be outside together.
