Around the House...and Potty Training Woes

Avery is in full swing potty training mode, which means life for us has been pretty crazy. Sigh. We went straight into underwear and rewarded him with small/cheap toys like hot wheels and silly putty each time he went on his elmo potty. He started off really well, and by the third day in,  he wasn't having anymore accidents. After the first few days of success during the day, we decided to give up the pull ups at night, too. After finding he consistently was wetting the bed at about 5ish in the morning, Phil started putting him on his potty in the middle of the night (we're still up with Claire, anyway), and he'd wake up dry. Success! - we thought. We smiled at each other, so proud of our baby boy (ahem..big boy, now). This isn't so bad...

Until the next week, when it seemed like everything he had learned and accomplished went out the window, and he started having accident after accident during the day. I'm not sure if the novelty had just worn off or if he was comfortable enough at home to not care about wet underwear, but our washing machine and my patience were both being pushed to the limit. The last few days have been better, but we're still not doing as well as we were in the beginning. So weird. And frustrating. Friends tell me he's not the only one, and this is normal. So much for thinking we'd made it. We're still a work in progress.

Needless to say, we haven't been spending much time outside of the house lately (although he seems to do better out than at home). This confinement, along with the constant bathroom runs and laundry load switches, makes for some very long and tiring days. Here are a few pics of us around the house during our housearrest. ha.

Big brother likes to make sure that Claire doesn't get too bored while in her swing.

Even the dog is bored....

Mom, I'm too cute to stay cooped up inside!
