The Stephens family has found a new hobby! After trying out paddle boards that belonged to friends of ours, we were quickly hooked. We initially decided to be sensible and not spend the money, since new ones can be rather expensive. However, we ended up finding a great deal on a 12 foot YOLO board with a carbon fiber paddle and the Thule roof rack on Craig's list and went for it! Both Phil and I love it, and the kids enjoy riding with us, too, every now and then. Saturday beach trips with friends have become a regular occurrence. The girls will stay back with the kids while the guys go out on the SUPs (stand up paddle boards) and visa versa. It takes quite a bit of balance (especially in waves) and fighting the current is a great ab workout. So far we've seen dolphins, manta rays, and jelly fish while out in the water...thankfully, no sharks!
Today, we went into the sound near Navarre beach. We didn't have the waves to battle, but the water was choppy and the current really strong.
