Alligator Alley

Today was a beautiful day to spend outside, so we headed over to explore Alligator Alley in Summerdale, AL. It was just over an hour drive, and I enjoyed a change of scenery. The thermometer in the car read 66' when we left the house- yay, Fall! :)

We arrived just in time for the alligator feeding. Both kids were a little antsy, but they were excited to see the big alligators so close to the fence. Avery waved, and Claire pointed and "talked" to them.

Next stop was to see and pet Pickles. Avery loved his little hat and waited in line to see him, but then decided against holding him in his lap. He was willing to timidly pet Pickles while Mom held him though.

Claire was not at all afraid and ran right up to Pickles to pet him, too. We had to remind her to be gentle because she liked to poke and pinch. Ouch.

Babies!

We splurged for the $4 cup of alligator food, which was definitely worth it when we made it to the swamp. Avery loved looking for the alligators and then seeing them swim after his food. 

Claire enjoyed running around out of the stroller and made it perfectly clear that she did not need our help (by pushing us away as we tried to hold her hand, direct her towards certain areas, etc.).

We enjoyed the time together, the alligators, the mini road trip, and the fabulous weather! Thankful for a no flying weekend for the hubby!
